Why should I have my doors maintained?  - It is a legal requirement

Under the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992, the Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 employers are bound to safeguard the Health and Safety of their employees and visitors to their sites.

It is the responsibility of all employers to protect their employees by ensuring all equipment is suitable for purpose, in good repair and subject to a monitored program of maintenance.

It prolongs the operational life of the installation.

As with any mechanical item, such as motor vehicles and other mechanical equipment, routine maintenance ensures that it is kept in good working order and identifies faults to ensure they are remedied before they become a major problem.

It maintains the door in safe and efficient order.

It helps to prevent accidents, damage, down time and loss of resources that usually occur as a result of this type of event.

It can help prevent potential downtime.

If the doors are not working and are an important access, delivery or loading area then you are likely to incur loss of revenue due to inefficiency and by operating reactively to a situation that could have been prevented.

It helps to prevent expensive repair bills, premature replacement, and identifies when a product should be replaced for safety reasons.

This may result in cash flow and capital expenditure planning implications. It also assists in better budget planning as you can identify a fixed cost for planned maintenance rather than variable costs for reactive repairs.
